Marcia's School of Dance Celebrates 50 Years of Dance! |
Marcia's School of Dance, L.L.C.
was established in 1961 by Miss Marcia. At that time, she was the only teacher, and
classes were held just one day a week. Today, the studio is open
six days a week having both
faculty and staff, and even class demonstrators.
Over the years, Marcia's School
of Dance has accumulated a number of awards and honors. Miss
Marcia was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the
Wisconsin Dance Council in 2003. The studio received the
Celebrating Abilities award in 2005.
Marcia's School of Dance has
also participated in numerous CNADM and DMW competitions,
bringing home hard-earned trophies! The studio has performed at
Six Flags Great America's Dance Fest and participated in the
annual Appleton Flag Day Parade. Miss Marcia and Miss Juliana
have also shared dance with the community over the years, having
choreographed for a multitude of high school plays and community
musicals! Miss Marcia's Polynesian troop also performs in the
community.
Still today Marcia's School of
Dance is growing! This year the studio had the privilege of hosting a Radio City Rockettes workshop. The Post Crescent's Viewfinder (December 2008) featured an article about Mother Daughter share passion about dance. Written by Dan Powers.
